Natural Bridges State Park

A brilliant day today for humans and birds (and probably a lot of other things too). A visit to the Santa Cruz area in California took me to Natural Bridges State Park, just a bit northwest of the town of Santa Cruz. This is one of the last remaining natural bridge formations which provides a great sunning spot for gulls, pelicans, cormorants, guillemots, and other local coastal birds. Quite crowded today, but the waves were tremendous. So, a quick blip to capture the moment.

Natural Bridges is also the State Park that includes a Monarch Butterfly Preserve. During the months of October to March 10s of thousands of Monarchs find safety and rest in the Eucalyptus groves within the park. Then, when they're ready they start their migration, sometimes thousands of miles. As soon as the butterflies arrive this coming year, I'll post a blip for you all to enjoy.

Cheers!
