Bedtime
Oh yes, nite nite would be good - such a tiring week!
Lovely day of reading in bed, massage with Clare-the-wax-lady*, jazz in the Jewellery Quarter Museum, and a walk by the canal from University to Selly Oak. This is a stretch of canal which is currently undergoing diversion and creation of an acqueduct around it so that a big new road can be built under it. Crazy civil engineering project related to the new hospital. It's easy to go off the towpath into a wilderness derelict area which sits between two huge roads and the canal - in the beautiful sunshine, graffitied walls stand out against piles of ephemera from supermarket thefts. The gate to a terrifying electricity sub-station was open so we wandered in** and listened to the scary fizz of electrons travelling across giant dalek-tron transformers. In the background wild flowers swayed and sparrows chitter-chattered, and bright yellow ragwort was covered in orange and black stripy cinnabar caterpillars.

** the actual equipment was still surrounded by high fences
