Scouting Worldwide
I had a photo all ready for posting today, well as i took it i though that was the blip for today. While i was viewing all the photos taken today, i noticed something in some of the other i had not noticed at the time. So it all changed.
We went to see the Kokura Gion festival, which is based around local teams pulling a float with drums on. As they are pulled along, 4 people beat the drums. We were there during the day when alot of children take part. As night falls, the drumming can be heard all around the town. Much beer is drunk and the men and women play the drums.
After watching some of the drummers this afternoon, you have to be fit. One, because you are playing as the float moves, and two the heat and humidity.
Away back to the photo, leading every team is a Scout. Something else that we the British gave the rest of the world. I hope they are enjoying there time in the Scouts, as much as i enjoyed my time in the Cubs and Scouts. Well i say enjoyed, there were a few days camping when the rain did not stop and it was no fun at all. Also, we were always told not the touch the roof of the tent, or it will leak. Then someone would touch it........ and yes, it leaked.
