Final preparations

Just a few minutes before the start of the 15th Gullane Beach Triathlon this morning.

Two turns around a 1500 metre circuit in the sea, a 42km cycle race and then topped off with a 10km run.

I think that may be nervous laughter from the competitor on the left. Especially as the water temperature was so low that wetsuits were compulsory.

For some reason we had a mob dancing to Barry Manilow's Copacabana in the kitchen over breakfast so it's been a day of contrasts already. I wonder what else it has in store. As the girls have just set up an operating theatre to dissect rubber aliens it's probably best not to guess.
