Evening stroll along the Ohio
Friday
I felt in need of some different subject matter today, so when Roger came home from work this evening, I managed to persuade him into driving downtown and going for a walk along the river, followed by dinner by the river. When we got downtown, we realized there was a baseball game on, so we ended up crossing the river into Kentucky, and parking at Newport on the levee, a shopping and entertainment complex, then walking back across the "Purple people bridge" to the Ohio side. We walked along the area we were quite familiar with as far as the Montgomery Inn Boathouse restaurant, but then instead of turning back, we continued through the car park, and discovered a whole new park we didn't know existed! I have vague recollections of hearing the name, but assumed it was some future project. However, judging from various information boards, it seems as if it's been there about 5 years! It's quite funny how we've gone away the last three weekends exploring new areas of Ohio, yet there's still places on our doorstep we don't know! It turned out to be a beautiful park area with beautiful views of the river, and beautifully landscaped. We spoke to one couple who were jogging, and they obviously were city dwellers and go there quite frequently, and they said there's never many people there, so it seems as if we're not the only ones who aren't aware of it! They also said the plantings are particularly beautiful in the Fall. I snapped this shot of the B&B riverboat cruising along the river, probably on a dinner cruise. I shall have to return another day in better light to get some more shots, and then again in the Fall! Having walked quite a bit further than we had intended, my stomach was practically growling, by the time we returned to the Kentucky side to eat, and enjoy the Cincinnati skyline. A great evening!
