Cannizaro House, Wimbeldon, London

- Backblip - London Day 2.

What a treat to take tea here today. As it is a place Hilary loved to visit, and Mum and Dad had also been here in the past, J was keen that we enjoy the experience also.

A pleasure to wander around the gardens named after the Sicilian Duke of Cannizaro who lived here for a few years in the early 19th century. Dazzling in the sunshine of over 30C degrees, there are several gardens within the park, off Wimbeldon Common. The lavendar beds right across the front of the house give a striking purple contrast to the cream and red stonework and umbrellas.

We supported A and L at their School Fair. A's football team got through to the final of their mini World Cup - it all ended in a penalty shootout.

The family have created a little garden at Hilary's grave. Inspired by my visit to the park last week to find heather on her birthday, we managed to source some plants and took them down. C planted out our little Scottish contribution there.
