Heading into the USA
Better in BIG!
We left Aurora, Ontario yesterday in our hire car to cross the border into the USA. Traffic on the 401 was bad with lots of construction work so we detoured through some little towns where these roadside signs caught our eye.
The border crossing was very easy, so much better than arriving by air, about 20 minutes of paperwork, $6 fee each and we were on our way.
We stayed the night at the Thousand Islands Inn, Clayton NY - where the dressing was invented. It's a pretty little town on the waterfront, lots of big ships passing to and from the St Lawrence Seaway and Lake Ontario. Dinner was excellent (as you can see!) and we tried two new beers too. Not what it says on the glasses; the Yuengling was in the Miller glass and I had Blue Moon in the Yuengling glass.
Hotel is rather very old fashioned with the most difficult shower to use - over an old fashioned tub and water going everywhere except on the showeree. Ceiling fan and floor fan as 'air conditioning'. But hotel very friendly and convenient with wireless internet!
Off to Syracuse today to see more cousins. Might not get internet access for a couple of days.
