Harebell

Still no Hairstreaks (see previous blips) so sorry to disappoint all those who have been waiting. I went looking for them again this afternoon but failed.
The best that I could come up with is this Harebell. It likes dry conditions and will grow everywhere except in wet areas. Gardeners very often plant it in rockeries
It has other local names including witches' thimbles, fairy bells and old man's bells (I think that's spelled correctly LOL) the old man being the Devil. It is not clear why this plant has these magical associations, I'll leave it to the imagination. They do, however, look like thimbles and fairies might easily ring them at night to announce their gatherings, or just for the hell of it!!
