Sacred

I decided to take a few photos around All Saint's church and the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone today. I've uploaded the fruits of my labour to Flickr. While wandering around I came across this gravestone - I've edited this version, an original is here.

I don't know if you can read the inscription but here it is "Sacred to the memory of Ann, Wife of Lieutenant Pearson Boys, RN who died April 6th, 1858. Aged 75. Also to the memory of James Lowry, MD. RN. Native of Donoughmore near Newry, Ireland who died at Maidstone. (the rest is lost but 1855?)" which leads me to wonder about the story. How were these three people related? Was Ann Lowry's sister? What brought James, the naval doctor, to Kent?

Another fascinating tomb belongs to the founder of the RSA.
