As I mentioned yesterday, our main reason for coming to this area for the weekend was to ride the Richland B & O bike trail, which traverses 18.4 miles of former rail corridor from Butler to Mansfield, Ohio in Richland County. Our campsite was situated adjacent to the trail about a mile short of the southern end in Butler. It was quite a scenic trail passing through lovely farming country, through a marsh area, several river crossings and a couple of small towns, Bellville and Lexington, before coming to an end in North Lake Park in Mansfield, with a shallow pond, attracting many Canada geese and a few anglers. On our return we stopped in the town of Lexington for a taco salad at a little pizza store and then later in Bellville for an ice cream. I should add that we were riding the tandem, otherwise I wouldn't have managed to do 35 miles!
