Eclipse in my own home
On the 11th August 1999 I went down to Cornwall to experience the total eclipse of the sun. It was the most amazing experience. I was actually 6 weeks pregnant at the time and there had appeared to be complications. That morning we went to the hospital and were told everything was okay, we had been misinformed, so then dashed to the coast to experience the day turn to night (at around 11am) by the sea.
It was an amazing experience: the birds going crazy, shouting, the community feel amongst the people- everyone chattering and cheering, my heart racing as everything went pitch black, then the street lights coming on- it was an eerie but adrenaline inducing experience I wouldn't have missed for the world.
Yesterday there was another total eclipse in the southern hemisphere. The path of totality passing through the Pacific Ocean mainly but skirting a couple of places ashore including Easter Island and Argentina. It wasn't possible to go and find my second one there but one day I shall, I'm certain.
In the meantime I have to settle for a lamp eclipse in my lounge. Taken 22.38GMT Lancashire, UK.
