supernumaries

In the middle of last week both my top and bottom left-hand wisdom teeths started another little growth spurt, eventually requiring the application of some ibruprofen to at least stop me noticing the sensation and worsening it by worrying at it despite now having to delay giving blood for which I am currently at least a month overdue. The other day Nicky started reporting similar sensations but to the extent that she rushed through an appointment with the dentist whereas mine can wait until the end of August as there'll be nothing much they can do until it emerges sufficiently to be hoicked out as the dentist expects will be necessary, given the space available. Nicky hasn't had any appear before but hopefully if hers require removal they'll be able to be done as simply as mine was a couple of years ago and with as little aftershock as it'd be unpleasant if painkillers of sufficient severity to require the disruption of the wingpiglet-feeding process were required.

I managed to take zero pictures during the day's main activities of driving through to Glasgow, visiting Nicky's school peer group and their childrens and driving back. Those present included one trundling about in a temporary wheelchair with a cast around his leg and hips after breaking a femur a couple of days before everyone else came through to visit last month. One thing I've not seen before was the metal bar incorporated into the cast, though whether its primary purpose was to maintain the relative positions of the legs or provide a handy grab-handle for transferring the child between wheelchairs and car-seats was unknown. I've often thought it would be handy if children of motile age were fitted with secure handgrips though plastering them up would be a little extreme to achieve this; hopefully some of the rein systems available also incorporate a handle close enough to the body to enable a child to be carried by it over short distances or restrained with less restraint than by reins.
