Curly tongue!

It might look like one, but this is not a moth!

It's a Small Skipper, a tiny butterfly that I found in the garden today. In fact, there were five or six, feeding on various flowers and chasing each other around. It was hard to tell whether they were fighting or flirting.

Butterflies have such great tongues. They seem to be stored a bit like one of those metal tape-measures, all curled up until they're needed.

The lavender certainly goes down a treat with insects, especially butterflies and bees. But then they love any herbs, pretty much. Must grow more of those...
