An Easier Day

The bird is something she plays with
and sometimes gnaws on.
The blue and green thing rattles
and belongs to a baby gym I bought at IKEA.

The candy on the sides isn't my favorite
but I am milk and egg free
because she has allergies.

They don't cure the migraine attack I had today,
they can't replace chocolate
but these things made my day a little easier.

But what made this day great
was the smile on her face
whenever I smiled at her
when I gave her 'nam-nam'
she loves her 'nam-nam' food,
bananas and peaches.

Someday I'll share her smile,
someday she'll share her smile with the world
but today it's mine.
