Phalaenopsis

The phalaenopsis orchid is one of my favourite flowers. The beautiful pink flowers look so delicate and yet the petals are actually quite tough and leathery.

This one is pretty resilient too. It was looking pretty dead a few weeks ago, hadn't flowered for months and just looked like some twigs in a plant pot. To be honest it was only inertia that saved it from the compost heap - just didn't get round to chucking it out. Then the buds began to appear, and a reprieve was granted.

Played with the colours a bit in Picasa. I don't tend to process my photos aside from a bit of cropping once they've been uploaded, but every so often I like to experiment. Results of last such experiment are here.

Looks like Son One was right at least about one of the teams in the World Cup final - well done to Holland for last night's victory. Not sure about tonight though. He's still convinced the other team will be Germany, but the psychic octopus says otherwise...
