Climber's Bums

How to take a good climbing picture: Include the climbers face, either from sideways on or looking down on them. A shot from the top of the crag helps to give a sense of steepness. Take the picture when the climber makes a reach, moves a leg up, or moves clear of the rock to make a high step and try to capture facial expressions at these points - do not take shots from below of climber's bums.

Okay I know the theory, but in practice when there's two of you out climbing and you're the one coming up second you either don't take the camera, or you take pictures of climber's bums. So today for your delectation you have Mick's bum - he tells me he's got a nice bum - I'll make no comment - I also have my reservations about the pink trousers.

Today we had a trip to Craig a Barns above Dunkeld, Mick did all the leading and although offered the chance of a lead I wimped out and did all the seconding - so you were always on for a bum photo.

The route in the photo is The Rut *** 30m VS 5a definitely the best route we did, intense and thought provoking and I must own up to pulling on a couple of bits of gear, not something I normally resort to - I'd sooner try and make the moves "legally" and take a fall - but today I've got a poorly shoulder - that's my excuse anyway.

Just been out to get fish & chips before the Germany, Spain match - I couldn't walk down the stairs - ended up going down them backwards - giving my knee a good thump on the first climb of the day obviously wasn't a good idea - I've taken an ibuprofen and settled down to watch the match, hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to walk.
