Yesterday's boxing of 50 years worth of photo albums proved more arduous, time consuming and emotional than I had thought. Arduous because there were many packets of loose photos which had to be looked through before being burned, time consuming because I felt I had to examine them individually remembering all the holidays and occasions on which they had been taken, and emotional because that part of my life and that of the children's was about to be consumed by flames.
However it was eventually done and we still have two large boxes of photographic memorabilia which will have be found a home. Emptying that particular cupboard was my biggest headache so far, so it's a great relief to have it cleared.
Along with the photos, I found an envelope containing my school reports and also those of daughters #1&2. I'm going to look forward to seeing their faces when I pass them over.
Back to today and we've just picked up Cairo boy from the airport. He's got a full schedule for his holiday here in Edinburgh, so I was lucky to glean some tips for improving my photographic technique over a glass or two of wine on the patio before he went out to play. His Lordship was seen to yawn rather a lot whilst the blip talk was in full flood
Given the two glasses of wine, I hope I can remember his pearls of wisdom.
His Lordship and I were going to take him out for a meal, but he has other irons in the fire, so we will dine by ourselves. He is a very easy on the pocket guest.
