Good Morning Broccoli

A fantastic way to wake up...bright sun shining through our windows, the sound of sprinklers watering the farm fields around us, dew drops sparkling on everything, and the sound of an airplane overhead (?)...

I had known the blueberry fields were going to be sprayed today, but didn't stop to think how. I walked out my front door to see an airplane circling above our house...a very surreal sight. This is the first year our neighbors have sprayed their berries; unfortunately the farmers in our area are having to deal with a new type of fruit fly this year that is decimating many crops (though we don't farm, most of our cherries are unedible this year). Many people who generally don't spray their fruit are having to, in order to preserve their crops. As I mentioned in my Labor of Love blip, they are at nature's mercy. I am reminded of that every time I walk outside...

Long night with the kids...Ms B was up for some unknown reason the first half of the night, while Mr C took the second half. This sleep deprived mom decided it was time to help Mr C remember how to sleep through the night. After all, he is currently well, and waking up for a drink of milk when your water cup is laying next to you in bed, just doesn't work anymore when you are 2.... Needless to say, one of my least favorite parts of parenting...listening to your child cry and yell your name. Hoping tonight is better for all of us.
