Lower Sardine Lake

On the fourth day, after taking the Sand Pond Nature Trail for more wildflowers, fungi, lakes, mountains, etc., the group split up. Three of us started home, stopping to examine the local flora at Yuba Pass and eat our lunch. Then it was home to the Bay Area.

We felt we had made a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Our trip hadn't been at all what we had anticipated, but we had a good time, good food, good hikes, and were among friends. We had all the wrong clothes and luggage. We had planned for cold and possible rain. We hadn't thought we would be dining out. It seemed impossible to find anything in the duffle bags brought to be carried on the backs of mules. But we had fun and we still hope to do the trip we had originally planned. But with a different company!
