Jabulani
It's hard to get Mfanelo to do anything on a Friday. No matter what he's supposed to be doing he finds his way back to his desk to facebook and listen to music. I spend most of the week chasing him to get back to work anyway, but now Jane is gone to Australia for almost a month, and although I'm back in the enforcer role for the office, he has no fear. He's mastered the eccentricities of English and can turn almost anything you say into something funny and disarming, which makes it damn hard to get mad and yell at him. He also dressed like me today as a joke, which made it difficult to keep a straight face.
I just gave Songezo (right) his new laptop, a very special occasion for a former BY intern. I was trying to get the two of them to pretend they were working away for a picture, but they couldn't stop laughing.
In case you've noticed "Jabulani" on the World Cup ads, it means "Be happy." It's very indicative of the way South Africans greet people, in this case the watching world.
