Heretical garlic
I didn't open this little "Autumn Seed Catalogue" when it first arrived a couple of days ago - perhaps I'm in denial about the existence of autumn. But when I started finally to browse the goodies within I was surprised to find not so much that one of their garlic varieties is called Albigensian Wight, but that they actually use the 13th century Cathars as a selling point.
Most of what little I know about the Albigensian 'heresy' is derived from reading Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie's book, Montaillou. I don't remember garlic being an issue.
Moving rapidly on, I read that the variety below offers "Spicy heat close to Moldovan intensity."
Isn't life strange?
