Clint Eastwood Gran Torino Barber Shop
Today I went to visit with local barber, Ted Widgren.
Clint Eastwood invited Ted to be in a scene of "Gran Torino". It was filmed in 2008 at the longtime businessman's shop on 11 Mile Road in Royal Oak, MI.
The barber shop served as a backdrop for three separate scenes in the film, which follows Eastwood as Walt Kowalski, an aging Korean War veteran who begins to mentor a Hmong neighbor after he catches the teen attempting to steal his prized 1972 Ford Gran Torino.
Widgren's Barber Shop was named Martin's Barber Shop in the film, although not much was changed inside, with many pictures remaining on the old wood-paneled walls.
Ted Widgren is now 91-years young and he is still cutting hair five (5) days a week.
