Beware the Jubjub bird

Spotted this family of oxo cubes in the binocular tree. They've obviously just recently fledged as they were all still congregated together under mum's watchful eye. Really pleased to get this capture, but the pleasure is tinged with a little sadness as you realise out of the original brood of 24 there are only 6 left, nature is indeed red in tooth and claw, but the other side of the coin is the family of the Jubjub bird has been well fed.

Yes it was quiz night last night and we got a question wrong involving binoculars and another about oxo cubes, in fact we got an awful lot wrong last night, although somehow managed to creep into the prize money in third place.

3. The walnut or Juglans regia is native to which continent?

5. What type of animal is a flying fox?
6. Who wrote the song I Have A Dream?

8. Oxo cubes were first made 100 years ago in which South American country?
9. How many miles long is the Suez Canal?
10. William Orbit had a hit with Adagio for Strings, by which 20th century composer?
11. Which Christina Aguilera song begins: "I feel like I've been locked up tight for a century of lonely nights waiting for someone to release me. You're licking your lips and blowing kisses my way but that don't mean I'm going to give it away, baby, baby, baby"?
12. Prior to being issued with whistles in the late 19th century, what did constables in the Metropolitan Police use to attract attention?
13. Which nickname for South Africa's national football team translates as "the boys, the boys"?

And now the plug for Andrew (who's good enough to email me the above so's I don't have to type them out:

The quiz is well & enjoyably run by Andrew and as his website says "If you're in London, Essex, Herts, Beds or Bucks - Want to hold a quiz event but can't find a quiz master? - Want a fun evening?" Then give him a call.
