Remnants of a demonstration
This afternoon a demonstration against the Congolese president Kabila passed our office. The demonstration originally was organised to celebrate 50 years of Congolese independence from Belgium, but Kabila opponents got the upper hand. The demonstration turned violent when they passed the Congolese embassy and people distroyed a car that was parked there. The embassy is only one street away from my office.
When I went home after work, this coffin was all there was left of the demonstration. The text on the coffin refers to ten million deaths that are supposed to have occured during the occupation of Congo by Belgium.
