WILD CARNATIONS AND MORTAR
This particular wild carnation has seeded itself right next to the house and is growing from between bricks. It's height is splayed out. On banks where they usually grow they reach a height of about 2 feet, 61 cm, high. Those are not yet in bloom and impatience got the better of me.
The flowers are small, about 1 inch, 2 1/2 cm, across and the colour is dazzling. There is, however, no scent.
You wouldn't believe how many shots I took. I thought it would be a simple matter of a click or two. The blossoms are not really complicated enough for a macro lens, although I tried a few dozen of those, too. I made the mistake of cleaning the debris out of the mortar. It looked better dirty.
