For fellow history nerds
This postbox is from the time of the Irish Free State (Saorstát Eireann). It is really extremely rare to see anything dated from that era (1922-27) around the country now that is still being used. I got very excited, especially as practically all other postboxes around this area still have British royal insignia. (Victoria, Edward viii, etc)
Gawd, it is so sad I even know this. I'll go back to doing cats, flowers and pretty things next time I blip!
