Frog jumping

Today was Old Home Day in my small time. It is a classic small town event complete with parades, a small fair and a frog jumping competition. The last is my favorite event and is pictured here. In the event, local kids capture frogs and bring them to a circle where they are release and their longest jump is measured. The winning frog has the longest jump. Note that typically are unharmed during the event.

My favorite part of the event is the periodic escapes. The frogs will jump and then take off in a random direction trying to escape. This typically results in mountains of kids racing after them and you never quite know how far the frog will get in his dash to freedom. Unfortunately, none ever escaped during those episodes, but all were released later.

In this image, we see a frog that was captured. I like the view of the frog sneaking through the hands and the faces that you can barely surmise are smiling.
