Racing round

I think this picture was taken on a trip to La Spezia. It was the nearest big town and we went there quite a few times. There was a really interesting naval museum there, I seem to remember.

The villa had a hi-fi, but we hadn't brought many (any?) CDs; ended up buying a Nick Cave Best Of among others. Listening to it as I type this ... it's striking how music can be so evocative of a time and place.

Matt always seemed to delight in the tiny roundabouts that were dotted around the town.
