Therein lies a story.
We were sitting in a beer garden in the Cotswolds yesterday discussing, as you do, what one of the trees was. In jest I suggested it was a gooseberry tree! Other suggestions were, pear, crab-apple etc.
It turned out to be a quince tree and the owner went into some detail about the niceties of harvesting and using quinces.
Lo and behold, Mrs DD and I came a across a little market on the way home and what should I spy..................
This little jar. Had to have it after all the trouble someone - Betty presumably - has gone to in picking and making the jelly.
