Market Day - Winterfeldtplatz
One of the reasons I have always said I wanted to move back to Germany is because I missed the weekly markets. We spent a lovely day today on Winterfeldtplatz, where one of the best markets in Berlin is held. Glorious sunshine, and hundreds of people enjoying a lazy Saturday morning strolling around and carrying bunches of sunflowers over their shoulders.
We didn't buy any of those, but instead came home with
1) the freshest lettuce ever
2) parsley, chives and dill which I later chopped and froze for less markety days
3) fresh chanterelles to go with pasta tomorrow
4) a big bunch of very peppery rocket
5) a 5 liter box of organic apple juice which there was a massive queue for, and it really is good, it's been approved by the kids.
Our little family then headed to the Rani just round the corner (remember, Weefeet?), my favourite Indian fastfoodie restaurant for probably almost 20 years now, where I ordered Chicken Spezial, as always and a big mango lassie (which the kids pretty much drank all by themselves). Sitting outside in T-Shirts, watching the crowds flow by (well, in between running to get Sam back from climbing on motorbikes/scooters/bikes!), it really felt more like summer than autumn.
Not the most original shot, I must admit, but always nice again for its bursting colours.
