The Band of Red
Well, first thing to say is wow!. Thank you all so much for looking in on my 100th and for all those comments. I started going down the list to return thanks, which also of course means peeking into so many other journals which all seem of astounding quality, and I hardly got any done before I was whacked. So, apologies to others, and over the course of time I will look into all those missed.
Today I was out with a walking group and we wandered around the back of Tranent and followed an old wagon trail towards Cockenzie. The girl who led our walk did inform us of much of the history of the Battle of Prestonpans, but I'll not relate any here because Donald will be here any minute for his tea and if I let this journal lapse waiting, (I'm sure it's happened to you) then I'll lose it all and have to start all over again.
I haven't used any photos from the walk, but of a poppy field I've spotted many times from the A1 and on homeward journey investigated whether I could find it from old road. (I'm very aware that this is a bit boring but I'm trying to get finished quickly to get on with Donalds tea). I did find it by going off at Macmerry and climbing a gate, stumbling over a very dry, clodded field, and as I don't want to do that again, here it is.
Again, many, many thanks.
