A is for Aces

I'm starting a new phase of blips today with an A-Z followed by some blips for the numbers 1-10.  That should keep me occupied for a while.  I was thinking about checking each one off as I find them, but that's taking the easy way out, so I'm doing them in order...

A is for Aces... or at least it normally is, but in France they have the 1 cards.  I bought this deck of cards in France in 1995 when I was there with the school orchestra.  The set also uses V for Valet (Jack), D for Dame (Queen) and R for Roi (King).

Today saw the end of the longest tennis match in history - 70-68 in the final set.  In fact that fifth set alone was longer than any other match in history.  The players served up 215 aces between them, also a new record.

In other news - which means football - the World Champions are out.  My team are still in the hunt though, and qualified as group winners!  Tonight's matches will determine who we play in the next round.
