Ekofisk

This morning, we arrived at the Ekofisk location for another removal summer campaign. There is a lot of negative publicity about oil companies and the environment going on right now. It is a very positive attitude that the owner of this Norwegian oilfield takes his responsiblity and leaves the site behind like it was before exploration started here. Every ton of steel will be carefully removed, transported to the shore in Norway, cleaned and finally recycled. Of course, you and I will finally pay the bill at the gasstation, but we were using their product as well didn't we? Here you see the Norwegian construction vessel Normand Flower busy with subsea work close to a platform to be dismantled soon. See the awful big knuckle-boom crane on deck of the Normand Flower, it is for sure the biggest I ever saw.
