Kaybees Bits

Centre Statuary

I was going to talk about cruising through life and how we should get off our backsides and get on with things.

To this end I blipped this. But when I get it on the screen I thought it was just too dusty which reminded me I still haven't vacuumed the car - which kind of flies in the face of my point.

So instead I thought I would use a shot of one of the bits of stone dotted around around Livingston centre.

It is not as ramdom as it may seem because my better half and son were discussing the cruel 'U-turn' that the constuction firm that built the extention about 10 years ago made.

The firm went to the local school and ran a competition for all the pupils to design a centerpiece which they would build and put in as a focal point.

My son won the competition and it was covered in the local press and they made a big thing of how well it fitted the brief and its artistic qualities etc., etc., etc.

They then did their U-turn and didn't build it. Eventually they said that they thought it better to put in 2 or 3 statues rather than 1 centerpiece...........bastards.

Maybe it does come back to the Cruising Through Life theme where big corporations go their own way, make false promises, treat the 'common man' like something they have just stood in and make no deviations from their set plans.
