Wintry

It was snowing when I went out for my newspaper early this morning. When day broke this was the scene from my back doorstep. There was no sign of the mountains.

All day the temperature hovered just above freezing. The snow in my garden turned to slush as the rain continued. I'm so glad the verandah is stock up with firewood.

It was such a contrast from yesterday when my washing dried quickly in the mild nor'wester. For those of you who could not understand how there were water drops on the inside of my bathroom window- it was condensation after I'd had a shower.

One year ago: I had a visit from Chooky, the much travelled hen, and her family. Sadly Chooky died earlier this year. But her family are having an exciting time following the recent publication of the father's book, A Life on Gorge River: New Zealand's Remotest Family, by Robert Long.
