Painted Hills
An amazing day, perfect temperature for this high desert country in central Oregon. SUN! but not too hot. We decided to see some of the John Day Fossil Beds Nat'l Monument - it is full of millions of years of geologic time examples. Lots of volcanic activity and fossils and my favorite, the oh so colorful painted hills with different mineral strata. Hard to choose one picture- but I liked this for the outstanding wildflowers adding their own colors. Would have ben a great place to spend the day painting. Ended up in Bend - much driving.
