Tomb of John Gunter (detail)

The Octagon group of churches date from early mediaeval times and lie in the South Downs to the North West of Chichester. As my colleague Julia has mentioned, they merit their own series of blips. In the meantime I find myself visiting those nearest my village in these light summer evenings.

This carving is part of a canopied table-tomb in St Peter's Church in the hamlet of Racton.
