another 'what is this?' pic

i have looked this creature up before but my brain is like mince just now so can't remember what it is. all i can remember is that the scary-looking appendage is an ovipositor (egg layer) i think.

it was on a sheet on the washing line & i was tensioning the bottom of the sheet but it kept swaying in the wind + no tripod, hence the lack of definition in parts.
