Sunrise in Winter

Surprisingly we had this awesome sunrise for the shortest day of the year.  

It was beautiful but very nearly didn't happen.  Just as the sun was getting vibrant and intense along came this thick cloud cover, found in the bottom foreground, I thought it was all over!  It was huge and was travelling at such a speed that when it had passed the sunrise was still happening, couldn't believe it!
Unfortunately it wasn't long before we had rain, then in the afternoon the sun came out but it was so bitter.

Daughter A cooked a vegetable quiche for tea tonight, it was delicious, thanks hun it was a wonderful help :)

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts regarding my migraine.  Fortunately I have been much better today after a well rested night :)
