Fremont Festival

I originally hoped to capture photos of Seattle Fremont Parade's famous body-painted bicycle riders, but my daughter's flight from Brazil was delayed and we missed the entire thing. The Fremont Fair, started in 1972, is held to coincide with the Summer Solstice every year and was going full force despite the less than summery weather. The street were packed with all kinds of people expressing themselves in a variety of ways.

The overcast weather was perfect for photographing areas of color (when the crowds broke for a moment). These African noisemakers were for sale at $6 each or two for $10. The photo cost me nothing but a little time and energy.
