a number of miles on the Harley saw me eventually hit the coast road which hugs the North Channel ... today the air was pristine and the hills of Scotland were clearly visible across the big pelagic blue .... I meandered into the Gardens at Glenarm Castle for a coffee and some quiet time... such a luxury to while away an hour or so while gazing at the clouds drifting lazily overhead! In this little notebook a few more thoughts were committed as the smell of clover hung heavily in the summer air ...... It brought to mind this passage of music spiegel im spiegel that I incorporated into a BBC Radio 4 documentary, which I produced many many years ago. The documentary was a living diary about a woman who allowed her land to be used in trials of GM Oilseed Rape ( Canola ) and chosen and shortlisted to represent the BBC's entire output of that year at the Prix Italia's in Rome. It was an intense programme which chronicled the emotional highs and lows of the diarist's response to demonstrators tearing up her crops and police intervention. The programme which was subject to just as intense BBC editorial and legal scrutiny was reviewed to great critical acclaim by the Financial Times ....it seems like a lifetime ago now!

To the best of my knowledge it was the first time that Arvo Part's - spiegel im spiegel was broadcast on the BBC! Happy days!
