Witley Court Fountain.
Today I spent the day at Witley Court - one of my absolute favourite places.
It is a ruined manor house, near Stourport and Worcester and is absoloutely breathtaking.
The house itself is magical, I have always preferred ruins to actual stately homes and I think this is why. I spent a lot of time roaming the house as a child, when it was just open and loved the magic and the theater of the place. Then when I was a teenager we did a week's open air production there in the summer holidays, theater and music and it was one of the happiest weeks of my life. Sun, music, young love and a bit of Bohemia, was kinda perfect for me.
Now the place is managed by English Heritage, and while that mean that you can no longer just roam there free of charge, it does mean that they are preserving the place. They have also restored much of the outside space, the gardens and woodland, and most impressively the Pegasus fountain.
The fountain is a sight to behold. Absolutely stunning. With the center jet shooting 100ft in the air. And the roar it gives off is something else too.
This photo doesnt really do it justice. The light was all wrong today, and nothing can really capture the true sense of it. But it was the best I could do today.
