Life and death

Awful day again so didn't get out until late afternoon. We visited 'my wood' and, surprisingly, there were a few fresh fungi up which I photographed but this image caught my eye. The dead leaf is a Ramson (Wild Garlic) and their life cycle, which began a few weeks ago, has ended. The fern will stay green right up to the autumn and winter. The green has gone from the Ramson leaf and left this beautiful and intricate pattern (well I think so anyway).
