Maple Bark

A heavy thunderstorm yesterday afternoon brought down a few branches off the trees and also helped the maple tree in my back yard to shed more strips of bark. Why do they do that?

World Cup duties and the high temperature gave me little opportunity or inclination to get out and about. So I wandered about the back lawn looking at the pieces of fallen bark and this piece caught my attention.

I de-saturated the colours slightly in Photoshop CS3.

Later on, I wanted to do something that had a Mexican flavour to celebrate their 2-0 World Cup victory over France this afternoon but my wife has drunk all the tequila. Just kidding. :-)
