Minneapolis City Hall

Night falls on the copper roof and clock tower of the Minneapolis City Hall.

At the time of completion in 1909, the building housed the world's largest clock, with faces four inches larger than those on the Great Clock in London (aka Big Ben, which is actually the famous hourly bell, not the clock itself...)

A 15-bell chime in the tower is played regularly, with noontime concerts Fridays and holidays during the Spring and Summer. The chime was originally 10 bells, and it was first played on March 10, 1896.

The clock tower rises 345 feet in height, and was the tallest structure in the city until the 1920s when the Foshay Tower was built.
