Chainsaw...without the chain

I spent ages (and probably a small fortune) on the 'phone this morning trying to track down a new chain for my chainsaw.

Why do places sell these things but none of the other requirements and spares?

I eventually found somewhere that would make one for me if I took in the old chain. So I took the cover, bar and chain off (the picture is the result) and hotfooted it into town.

True to their work they made a chain up ......... and sharpered the old one for me.

Back to the house to clean up body of the saw (nice job - not) and put it all back together..................................

The new chain was TOO DAMN SHORT.

Lucky I had had the old chain sharpened so I was able to put that back on and go and cut down that damn raspberry blowing tree in double quick time.

A phone call to the chain maker and they arer going to redo it...............too damn right they are.
