BA 175
And so the adventure begins.
A 3.30am alarm, at the airport by 5.
Shortly before 7 we take off for an hour and a half flight to Heathrow.
Terminal 5 is lovely. Spacious, cool and not too busy. If only all airports were like that.
BA 175 is the biggest plane I've ever been on. Heating is a little bit too high and the movies are a little bit too rubbish. Food sounds nice, but in reality is still airplane food. It has a texture like, but doesn't taste as nearly as nice as nice as, rubber.
We leave an hour late. Heavy airport traffic is the excuse. We didn't make up the time during the journey. The tracking map on the in-flight entertainment system was the best thing on.
Fast forward 8 hours.
JFK is hot, stuffy and the immigration queue is about as long as the journey we have just flown.
But we're happy. They've let us in, and all our bags made it.
Cipriani, our apartment owner, picks us up from the airport and fills us in on New York City life. He's Romanian but lived here for 8 years. It all sounds good.
Apartment is nice. Weather is nice, but we are tired. Very tired. But thanks to the -5 hour time difference, a longer than normal sleep is possible. We need to be fresh for the coming days ahead.
