Quiet Lagoon

This scene always reminds me of Pamlico Sound inside the Outer Banks of North Carolina except this is much smaller and these are cattails instead of Spartina grass.

This lagoon is a water ballast to operate a lock on the Erie Canal. It's not as calm as it looks. When the lock is filling there is a strong current out lollowed by a strong current in after the gates close. The fish seem to like it.
