World Cup Barbecue

We drove down to West Winds this morning for the first day of our holiday in England. First long journey in our new Insignia. I really appreciated the cruise control.

We thought Orla might be shy initially seeing Grandma and Grandad but she was fine in no time at all. I think being introduced to Millie the kitten helped, then also helping Grandma to water the flowers in the garden.

We went down to Wetherby in the afternoon so Orla could see the ducks, then went to buy some food for a barbeque. It seemed appropriate to have a barbeque in the build up to the big match.

England played their first World Cup match in the evening, against the USA. It was 1-1 due to a bad goalkeeping error from Rob Green so a disappointing start. The good news is that England's best efforts in the competition (1966 and 1990) both started with disappointing draws.
