On top of the world...
~backblip~
Great day today, my friend Ian and I decided to go to the Mourne mountains, not far from Belfast. It was Ian's first time climbing a proper mountain; I didn't know this at first so I decided to take him up one of the hardest ones we have, Slieve Bearnagh! I needn't have worried, we both got up it no bother, helped I'm sure by the gorgeous weather.
I love Bearnagh because it's got these massive rocky tors on the top, great if you fancy a fairly easy scramble. Ian took this photo for me, but I have to take the blame for the blown highlights in the clouds, I didn't compensate enough for the massively bright backlighting when I set up the camera for him :(
I thought I'd post it anyway because it sums up the day nicely, sitting on top of the summit tor with a great view behind me. From there you can see two of the big reservoirs in the Mournes; the one on the right is Silent Valley, and as far as I know it supplies most of the water we drink in Belfast. It's also rather picturesque :)
PS: I backblipped for yesterday and the day before. More pictures from the Mournes trip can be found here
